Barkley fastest Pro Street Canadian

From EB Speed

On Sept. 13 Ethan Barkley became the fastest Canadian in history on a Pro Street Bike.

This record had been held by Richard Peppler of Ontario for a number of years at 192.55 mph in the quarter-mile.

Barkley was gunning for the record while competing at the CMDRA finals at Castrol Raceway near Edmonton. All weekend he was consistently crossing the line at close to 190 mph, which was significantly faster than his immediate competition. Never satisfied, he knew the record was within his grasp.

Barkley staged his 500hp '06 Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the semi finals of the RCC Turbos Pro Street Series for what would be a history making pass. The run was smooth, and the bike tracked straight down the track. The scoreboards flashed, 7.653 @ 194.58 mph.

"The track was near perfect," Barkley said after the run. "I could finally turn the boost up and run a number."

With that pass, Barkley has now taken over as having piloted Canada's fastest Pro Street Bike.
