Blazusiak wins again; Graffunder fifth

Taddy Blazusiak continued his winning ways in the ’10 US Endurocross championship, claiming his second consecutive main event win at round two of the series staged in Oklahoma on Saturday.

After winning the series opener in Las Vegas the KTM Enduro Factory Team rider headed into the Oklahoma event confident of another podium topping result, but wasn’t expecting the night’s final to be as challenging as it was.

With high temperatures and brutal humidity inside the arena Blazusiak finished the main event exhausted, but thrilled to have continued his winning ways.

Third fastest in the night’s qualifying hot lap session the Pole comfortably topped his heat race to head into the main event with first pick of the start. Blasting into an early lead, Blazusiak spent the opening six laps of the race battling with Mike Brown.

Eventually moving clear at the front of the race Blazusiak eased his pace as he started to feel the effects of both the heat and his earlier battle with Brown. Coming close to crashing as the race neared its close Blazusiak remained out front and claimed a second consecutive win to maintain
his place at the top of the US Endurocross championship standings.

"It’s been another great result, but it was a really demanding race," Blazusiak said. "The whole evening went well, just like in Vegas, but the final was hard, really hard. The heat and humidity inside the stadium made it probably the most physically demanding Endurocross event I’ve done.

"Getting the holeshot, like I did in Vegas, made things a lot easier for me but I had a great battle with Mike Brown for six laps. I managed to pull away and felt comfortable out front but I was so tired. The heat made it so tough. I slowed down quite a bit, and almost crashed on the last lap, but kept it together to get the win."

Round three of the US Endurocross series takes place in Indianapolis on Aug. 27.
