Lajoie fourth in California championship

From Nadine Lajoie

The second round of the California State Championship was held at Infineon Raceway (Sears Point), combined with the AFM event at that track last weekend.

Quebec's Nadine Lajoie was able to reach fourth position in the California State Championship of the Formula 40 Middleweight on her Catalyst Reaction Suspension-backed Honda CBR600RR.

"I am satisfied about that result, considering this was my first time on that track, which is hard to learn," Lajoie said. "I only had a few practices and it's been almost four months without racing, due to a speaking engagement in Paris and duties in my other businesses. I am also very happy about my results considering there were over 40 crashes only on Sunday, within approximately 220 racers in that event."

Because she missed the first event of the AFM championship, Lajoie was gridded at the back in every race she competed in. With the Formula A Femme, she started 11th out of 12 women and made her way up to seventh place in the eight-lap race. She also finished 12th in the 600 Superbike class. In the two other races with the AFM Championship Lajoie was gridded 38th out of 39 men and she finished in 33rd position in the 750 Production race and in 600 Production she was gridded 31st out of 35 racers and finished 28th.

Her next race will be at Willow Springs Raceway in Rosamond, CA on Aug. 14-15.
