Repsol Honda Team MotoGP rider Dani Pedrosa was admitted to the A&E department of the USP Dexeus in Barcelona on Saturday morning after arriving from Japan.

He fell in the first free practice of the Grand Prix on Friday, which is being held at the Motegi Circuit.

The Head of the Hand Surgery Unit at USP Dexeus, Dr. Xavier Mir, examined the rider and did a three-dimensional CAT scan that confirmed a comminuted fracture (four fragments) of the left collarbone, which needs to be set with a locked titanium plate. It has also been confirmed that he has a grade 2 sprain to his left ankle, which needs to be immobilized.

The Repsol rider will undergo an operation on his fractured collarbone at USP Dexeus by Dr. Mir; Head of the Shoulder and Shoulder Arthroscopy Unit, Dr. Victor Marlet and Head of the External Fixation Unit, Dr. Ignacio Ginebreda.
