Delegate

One last road I want to mention in advance of my end of year ride. Seems everyone has ridden this road recently so you should find some info and pics on your favourite forum.

The road from Bombala to Orbost has gained quite a reputation as a superb ride. There is two small sections still unsealed and then about 100 odd km of twisty corners with little to no traffic.

I have been wanting to

Four Mountains

The area near Bega has some excellent riding.

I previously rode Brown Mountain and I am going to explore a couple more roads there when I next visit. In the meantime here is some preliminary information and I will fill in the gaps at the end of the year.

Near Tathra

A good ride can be enjoyed if aproaching from the North along the coast. Locals often speak of this road and I plan to

Falls Creek

Another ride I wanted to report on post the Buell Muster was the road to and from Falls Creek. From Omeo it has just been sealed all the way to the top and makes a tempting alternative to the Great Alpine Road.

I think most people know the road from Omeo to Anglers Rest has many nice corners and the road to the north of Falls Creek is also frequently spoken about so really all that was

The Tablelands Way

The Tablelands Way is a route that has only recently been sealed all the way.

I was to have ridden this road on my recent tour however things didn't go to plan. Rather than wait until I can revisit here before posting anything I have decided to write just a little about it and four other roads I was going to ride so readers might consider if going on tour.

The Tablelands Way by all accounts is

Soft Silicon Ear Plugs

Readers of this blog may recall I have been trying out every sort of ear plug I could obtain and after testing many settled on soft silicon ear plugs as the best earplug solution. (see archives for more)The main reason I like this type of ear plug is they are so very comfortable. Seriously if you are one of the many riders who doesn't wear ear plugs because of discomfort or the isolation effect

Australia's best motorcycle roads. Wisemans ferry and Bucketty to Woolombi

Wisemans Ferry and Bucketty to Wollombi. It has been a while since I posted any roads from my Moto-GP tour last year, however I still have a few left to show you and talk about. The rides here north of Sydney are no doubt well known and popular for Sydney based riders who would have alot more information on them, however I come from Brisbane so I will be speaking from a touring point of view. I

Australia's best motorcycle roads. Bucketts and backroads

Bucketts way and Dungog, NSWAfter or before the Thunderbolts way, depending on your direction of travel, is Bucketts way.To me the section between Gloucester and Nabiac is great, the other section of road called the Bucketts way lies south to Raymond Terrace and is bumpy in a few parts but is in the process of being resealed as is the Thunderbolts way north.Nabiac to Gloucester. So first heading

Australia's best motorcycle roads. Clyde Mountain.

Clyde Mountain - Kings Highway.Batemans Bay to Braidwood. NSW.What a fantastic land we live in for riding motorcycles. Warm most of the time and processing a series of mountains from Nambour to Melbourne near to the coast that we have build roads up and over. This road is a real gem, very smooth and easy to ride. Superb surveying with lots of flowing corners, the ride to the base of the mountain

Australia's best motorcycle roads. Snowy Mtns Highway

Snowy Mountains Highway. NSWHere is a major mountain road with countless excellent sweepers that for some strange reason is not listed in the Hema motorcycle atlas. I actually skipped it the first time I rode the Snowy mtns area thinking it must be no good - don't make the same mistake, this is a terrific bit of tar!The Hema atlas gives the alternative of Corryong to Tumut via Tumbarumba a

Australia's best motorcycle roads. Murray River Rd

Murray River Road, VIC.Of the many great rides I enjoyed in Victoria on recent my moto-gp tour, this one certainly stood out.I had faint memories of this road in my mind before riding it. I remember this road from when I was very young on holiday with my parents, caravan in tow. The water level is much lower than I recall and no doubt like alot of Australia's water ways is suffering from a lack

Australia's best motorcycle roads. Gwydir h-way

The Gwydir highway. NSW.This is one of those roads I always seem to skip. Not cause it isnt a great ride but simply because it is competing with so many other good roads in the same area. From Grafton you are always going to be tempted to ride towards Nymboida. The road to Armidale via Ebor is one of the most enjoyable rides you will find anywhere and thats even without the Waterfall way. However

Australia's best motorcycle roads. Snowy Mtns via Mt Panorama

To the Snowy Mountains via Mt Panorama. It was difficult to decide if I should post this as a 'best ride' or not try string things together for people wanting to visit Bathurst. Most motorcyclists I have met want to visit and ride the famous Mt Panorama either on the way to or from the GP or Superbikes so here is my take on how to see it and tie together riding Putty, the Bells line of Road and

Australia's best motorcycle roads. Bells line of road.

Bells Line of Road (The Blue Mountains) NSW.After the Putty Road one option is to head west via this road to Lithgow and then make you way to the Snowy Mountians region. My suggestion is try via Bathurst, Cowra, then Lachlan valley h-way, and via Harden on to Tumut - excellent scenery and not unpleasant road. I will post more about this route elsewhere. So leaving the putty you may have bypassed

Australia's best motorcycle roads. Whitfield

Mansfield to Whitfield. Here is another great ride in the north east highlands of Victoria. This road has plenty of variety for a motorcyclist to enjoy, its almost like 4 roads in one. I will describe the road from south to north.Mansfield is a town servicing the snow resorts you are spoilt there for choices when it comes to good food and coffee. Along with Bright it would make an excellent base

Australia's best motorcycle roads. Murray valley highway.

Murray Valley HighwayVictoria really has one thing over the rest of the east coast - roads with great sweepers. This is yet another Vic road with those rare sort of magic sweeping bends enjoyed by all on any sort of motorbike. You will ride this either having just come over the snowy Mtns or heading towards them. Either way it flows just as good and the scenery in this part of the country is right

Australias best motorcycle roads - Nymboida

Grafton's historic rail/car bridgeNymboida/Ebor.Grafton to Armidale, NSWOften refered to just as Nymboida on some bike forums, the whole road to Armidale via Nymboida and Ebor is very good as is the Waterfall way.Heading south you can obtain fuel at Courts Crossing if you wanted to skip Grafton. Depends on the times of travel but Grafton is about a lunch time stop from Brisbane if you leave at a

Australia's best motorcycle roads. G.A.R

The Great Alpine Road.Top to bottom the Great Alpine road starts more or less at Myrtleford and runs all the way to Bairnsdale. If your heading south from Sydney or Brisbane then you may arrive on to the road just south of Bright having traveled across the excellent Tawonga Gap road. The lead in roads from the north are the excellent Murray Valley highway and even better Murray River road after
