Paris to Dacre coming up

From Rally Connex

The Paris to Dacre Dual Sport Challenge is scheduled for July 12. This is a dual sport challenge event designed to honour and mimic the achievements of the competitors of the real Dakar Rally in Europe and Africa and to recognize the extraordinary efforts of our Canadian entrants.

The Paris to Dacre Ontario (P2D) ride is an example of what each competitor has to complete every day for the complete duration of the rally. This is the third time this event has been held.

Teams of three to five will start at 4 am and spend the next 16 hours negotiating the 750km of GPS routes that will take them from Paris, ON to Dacre, ON.

The Mosport Superbike Tour is scheduled for July 18-20. Camping areas abound around the track. There are bathroom and shower amenities and food vendors for those who do not wish to cook. Dealerships and vendors display their services and products and there are demonstrations of motorcycle stunt driving.

The Saturday tour will take riders on a 150km loop, which will return to the track. Superbike racing, stunt shows, a rock concert, camping, and a dual-sport run all in one weekend.

The Beef Run takes place Aug. 23-24. The ride will leave from Mission Cycle in Angus, ON and riding to Ox Narrows. Riders can put their luggage in the RallyConnex trailer and it will meet them at Ox Narrows Resort. There is a full-service restaurant at the resort with an extensive menu to satisfy everyone's tastes (including a prime rib buffet special).

This is a two-day long round trip. Riders will meet in the morning at Mission Cycle in Angus (near Barrie), load their GPSs, get a brief description of the ride and any hazards or points of interest, then take trails and back roads all the way up to Ox Narrows (west of Halliburton).

Participants will stay overnight in the lodge on the shore of Lake Kushog. In the morning, riders will be able to pack their heavy gear into the trailer and proceed back to Angus via a completely different set of routes. As always there are two sets of routes available on each day, one aggressive, and one for stock tired bikes. Sweep riders will follow each route, and can call the support truck over if needed.

The Corduroy Enduro GPS Adventure is scheduled for Sept. 20-21. This is a world-class enduro, with a deep 54-year history, situated in some of southern Ontario's best off-road riding area. The Haliburton Highlands offer scenic, rugged and deeply forested landscape for riders to explore.

Participants won't be asked to ride the enduro course itself. Rather, they will ride all the forest access and gravel roads during the second day of the event, stopping at key times and places so they can cheer on their favourite competitors as they pass by spectators points.
