Harley-Davidson supports Quebec unit

From Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada

CONCORD, ON – With 100 years of involvement with various Police Associations, Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada is – as of 2008 – lending a supporting hand to the Quebec Provincial Medical Motor Unit, a non-profit organization founded on Feb. 5, 2007.

Through QPMMU’s efforts, for the first time within the province of Quebec as well Canada in general, motorcycles are officially recognized and registered as part of a fleet of emergency vehicles alongside Police vehicles by the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ).

The Quebec Provincial Medical Motor Unit is sanctioned by various health departments in the province which impose stringent regulations as part of their quality assurance program.

Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada supports QPMMU by providing them with four 2005 Harley-Davidson FLHPI Road King Police vehicles, which have been proven to be well-suited to the demanding circumstances that the emergency pre-hospitalization services entail.

Interventions generally occur under circumstances that are inhibitive to regular ambulance vehicles. The FLHPI Road King Police motorcycles are kitted out with a streamlined version of all the equipment that a regular ambulance would transport and are exclusively operated for their designed purpose as medical motor units.

QPMMU was rewarded with Pan-Canadian recognition at the 2008 “Max Awards” for this initiative, which sculpted its organizations’ visions based on several European institutions that have been offering motorized ambulance services to the general public for decades.

The QPMMU team includes qualified surgeons, paramedics, nurses and doctors who, so far, have intervened in 25 events and have circulated in well over 100 cities within the Quebec province.
