New models on display in Toronto

TORONTO, ON – The Toronto Motorcycle Show announced on Monday it will be the first place for people to see the latest motorcycles, ATV’s and scooters before they hit dealer floors.

The show will feature over 150 exhibitors including the most iconic and popular motorcycle manufacturers, such as BMW, Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Triumph, KTM, BRP, Victory, Harley-Davidson, Buell and Ducati, showcasing their latest 2009 models, some for the very first time.

Motorcycle and scooter sales are expected to maintain momentum after a 13% increase over the spring/summer selling season. Sales are up over 8% over last year to the end of October.

“Bikes and scooters are a great way to beat the credit crunch,” said Bob Ramsay, president of MMIC. “Our members, the major manufacturers, support our shows across the country because they know it’s the first and best place for people to see, touch, sit on and experience the new product.”

BMW Motorrad Canada will feature three exciting new K-Series models, the K1300S, K1300R and K1300GT, along with the arrival of the long-awaited HP2 Sport and F800GS. Attendees to the show will get a sneak-peek of the BMW S 1000 RR Supersport bike, still under development. The newly launched G450X Enduro will complement the introduction of BMW Motorrad 2009 stable of models at the Toronto Motorcycle Show.

Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada will feature a wide variety of bikes including the CVO Fat Bob bike (a limited-production motorcycle), 2009 CVO Softail Springer bike (a new factory customer motorcycle), Ultra Classic Electra Glide bike (featuring the all-new 2009 Harley-Davidson Touring chassis), and 2009 Tri Glide Ultra Classic Motorcycle (the first introduction for Harley in the three-wheel motorcycle segment.)

Yamaha will have the newest additions to the Yamaha family of Sport Bikes. The new R1 has been designed as the “Ultimate Cornering Master” of the open supersport class. The FZ6R fits perfectly into the less intense sport bike world with its easy-to-control engine, light weight and low seat height. The new VMAX 1679cc v-4 and TMAX scooter round Yamaha’s line-up for 2009.

National Motorsports will showcase its new E-Moto G-3000LX (all electric scooter) a near silent running scooter with a modern look and state-of-the art power plant and the new 2009 Hyosung models.

KTM will unveil its much anticipated 1190 RC8 Superbike as the latest addition to its street lineup as well as the sportiest and the most powerful single cylinder of all time, the KTM 690 Enduro R 2009. KTM will also show the first ATV SX models and the new XC-W 400 Enduro for the hard-core off-roader.

Victory Motorcycles is celebrating its 10th anniversary throughout the 2009 model year with a very special 10th Anniversary Victory Vision. At the show, Victory will feature many new models including the Vegas – a bike powered by the Victory Freedom 100/6 V-Twin – a 100-cubic inch engine with a six-speed transmission with overdrive.

Suzuki will feature a selection of new rides including the redesigned and flagship sport bike GSX-R1000, the Boulevard M90, a new model that combines high style with class leading torque and the 2009 Gladius, a sporty V-Twin engine coupled with Suzuki's advanced technology.

Ducati North America will have on the show floor the new 1198 superbike, the light and agile 848 as well as the latest additions to its iconic Monster line of “naked” sport bike with the Monster 1100 and 1100 S models. Ducati will show the new powerful 1000cc engine and timeless styling of the GT 1000, a favourite of the Ducati SportClassic line.

BRP will unveil the newest member of the Can-Am Spyder roadster line-up, the SE5 Can-Am Spyder roadster which joins the already successful SM5 Spyder roadster.

The Toronto Motorcycle Show, one of seven Canadian motorcycle and ATV shows owned by the Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council (MMIC) and Canadian Off-Highway Vehicle Distributors Council (COHV), will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from Friday, December 12 until Sunday, December 14.
