ARL doubles up on Superbike

From the Atlantic Roadracing League

HALIFAX, NS -- In 2009 race fans will have twice as much to cheer about as Amateur Superbike and Pro Superbike competitors will race on Saturday and Sunday of ARL`s Atlantic Roadracing Series.

The Saturday “Open” category has been eliminated and replaced with Superbike Race 1 for both the Amateur and Pro fields. The Superbike class consists of the largest displacement machines running the fastest race for the most laps and for that reason the winner of that class is crowned the Atlantic Roadracing Champion.

In 2009 the spectators and competitors can expect to see some of the closest battles in recent history under ARL’s new Superbike doubleheader format. Both Amateur and Pro riders in the Superbike class will have two races per weekend contributing points to their championship efforts. In addition, points secured in round six of the Parts Canada Superbike Championship will count towards the Atlantic Championship.

The level of racing in Atlantic Canada is higher than it has ever been. ARL series competitors, sponsors and fans are looking forward to this exciting new development in the country’s fastest growing championship. Round one of the Atlantic Roadracing Championship is slated for May 16-17 at Atlantic Motorsport Park with Amateur and Pro Superbike Race One on Saturday and Race Two on Sunday.
