Cuthbertson ready for Romaniacs return

From Husaberg Racing

After Canadian Shane Cuthbertson made the debut of the all new Husaberg FE 450 at last year's Red Bull Romaniacs, this year three more riders will take on this five-day fight with nature as well as with their own physical and mental limits in the Pro class Aug. 15-19.

Cuthbertson is back again after finishing in ninth position last year, this time on a 2010 Husaberg FE 570. He has had almost a year to ride and train on his FE 570 back home and is eager to improve on last year's result.

He will be joined by US offroad racing legend Jimmy Lewis. Lewis is a four-time AMA National Hare & Hound winner and finished the 2000 Paris-Dakar rally in third position.

Although he officially retired from racing in 2006, he still likes to take on special challenges as part of his after-racing life as chief-editor of the US Dirt Rider magazine.

Lewis will be competing on a 2010 Husaberg FE 390 he might be able to become one of this year's surprises, although it's his first time in this race.

The two North American Husaberg riders will be joined in the Romanian woods by two Austrian Red Bull Romaniacs veterans, Erich Brandauer and Dieter Happ (both Husaberg FE 570). Both of them raced the initial edition of this unique race back in 2005 and finished in fourth (Brandauer) and seventh position.

With his trials background (Brandauer is a 12-time Austrian champion) the technically difficult riding is absolutely his game, as he already proved this year by finishing the Red Bull Hare Scramble at Erzberg in 13th position.

Happ, a former snowboard pro, is fully into extreme offroad events as well. He has already competed in the Red Bull Last Man Standing, Hell's Gate, Erzberg and also the Roof of Africa. Last year he had to pull out of the Romaniacs after day 1 due to injuring his hand in the prologue on the streets (and man made obstacles) of Sibiu.

To follow this stunning event go to www.redbullromaniacs.com for live tracking as well as a live blog. In addition a daily inside report on the results and incidents of our four Husaberg heroes will be available on www.husaberg.com every (probably late) night.
