Jervis cracks the win column

By John Hopkins

Victoria's Oliver Jervis picked up the win in 600 Superbike and added a pair of runner-up finishes to his tally in the third round of the OMRRA season at Portland International Raceway last weekend.

Riding his Zlock-prepared Kawasaki ZX-6R, Jervis came out on top of a tight battle with fellow Kawasaki rider Chris Ancien in the 600 Superbike race after finishing a close second to Ancien in the 600 Supersport round a day earlier.

"I was able to slot into second again off the start but I had a different mindset for this race," Jervis explained. "I'll leave it at the word 'determined' and let you imagine the rest. The result was probably one of the best races of my career, passing on every lap, two to three times, if not more. Timing lapped riders to the 10th of a second and relentlessly pushing as hard as possible every second of every lap."

In Formula Ultra Jervis grabbed second off the start on a Kawasaki ZX-10R borrowed from Mike Sullivan and chased Alan Schmidt. Jervis was unable to get ahead of his fellow BC rider and survived a near crash in turn three on his way to another second place finish.
