Aubert stays perfect in Mexico

From KTM Racing

KTM Enduro factory rider Johnny Aubert of France again demonstrated his superiority in Morelia, Mexico when he dominated Day Five of the ISDE, this year celebrating its 85th edition, on Friday. Aubert has now won the E2 class on all five days and was the fastest individual rider.

Organizers presented riders with new challenges as they tackled an entirely different course than the previous days as they went in to the penultimate round and the last full day of riding. The track was a mixture of trails and special tests. For the final day, riders will have to fight it out on a nearby motocross circuit.

Aubert's efforts helped to further solidify France's grip on the coveted World Trophy and collectively they finished 1.5 minutes in front of Finland, who are third behind Italy in the aggregate standings. While first place seems secure in French hands there is a battle of attrition for the minor places between Italy and Finland. The US, with Kurt Caselli and Mike Brown as spearheads, is in fourth place.

As the French lineup includes riders with some strong motocross credentials and because they are 10 minutes clear of Italy, the top result of the event's most prestigious trophy seems to be a foregone conclusion. Battle lines however are drawn to fight out for the minor podium places.

Spain continues to dominate the Junior Trophy. Here too there is a close battle for the minor places between Sweden and the US. France is in fourth place.

In the E1 category on the day Eero Remes came in second to Antoine Meo of France, who extends his lead in the class. Third and fourth on Day Five were KTM USA riders Kurt Caselli and Mike Brown.

Aubert was fastest home in E2 for the fifth day in a row by 39 seconds ahead of Rodrig Thain and Juha Salminen. Italian Simone Albergoni was the day's best KTM rider in the big E3 class coming home third behind Christophe Nambotin and Sebastien Guillaume (Husqvarna).
