Hett and Hewitt earn CMA honours

During the Annual Meeting of the members of the Canadian Motorcycle Association on Dec. 9, Vice President Hugh Lim, on behalf of the outgoing Board of Directors, announced the following awards.

Marc-Andre Thibeault of Drummondville, QC received the Award of Merit, given in recognition of long standing exceptional effort or achievement which reflects favourably on the CMA, or furthers the aims and works of the CMA.

Thibeault has announced his retirement from the Board after a long period of service as Director representing Quebec. He also held various posts on the executive of CMA Quebec Region and was a highly regarded National Referee for many years.

The Fulvio Callimaci Memorial Supporters Award, which is presented to an individual or group who has supported or promoted the CMA and motorcycling in an exceptional way, went to the Amateur Trials Association, Heidelberg, ON and Steel City Riders, Hamilton, for exceptional support of the CMA and its programmes during 2010.

In the Competition Awards, the Bert Irwin Memorial ISDE Award for the Canadian rider who has the best performance at the ISDE went to Victoria (Tori) Hett of Cawston, BC.

The White Memorial Trophy, presented to the Canadian rider who was judged to have the most outstanding performance in winning a CMA #1 Plate, was awarded to Danny Hewitt of Airdrie, AB, the 2010 Ice Racing Champion.
