From World Enduro Canada
On the heels of a ground breaking 2010 season that showed the Ontario racing community what was possible in off-road race promotion, WEC and CMRC are back with an exciting new calendar of racing for 2011!
“Our venues this year will continue to favour those riders who want a variety of terrain, fast courses, MX style obstacles and the opportunity for spectators,” explains WEC’s Sean Wiesner. “Media and sponsor friendly racing is the future, and off-road racers have been hiding in the woods for too long. We will continue in our mission to bring off-road racing into the mainstream.”
CMRC President Mark Stallybrass continues, “Following WEC’s successful inaugural year of staging Cross Country events in Ontario, the upcoming year looks to be taking positive steps forward with new venues, newly established partnerships between offroadmotorcycles.ca, MXP and CMRC ensuring greater publicity and exposure, plus incentive programs aimed at attracting motocross racers to Cross Country events. CMRC Compétition in Quebec will offer a complete series in 2011 as well, so Cross Country racing has a very bright future in Canada.”
“2011 will bring more sponsors and more money to the riders. We will continue with our 100% Pro payback that puts money back into the pockets of the fastest racers. The Wiesner Insurance Holeshot Award will continue to present $100 at every round to the Pro rider who is the fastest to make it to the first turn,” says Wiesner. He adds, “New for this year will be the Wiesner Insurance Fastest Lap Award. Highlighting our flawless and proven timekeeping system, this award will present $100 at every round to the rider who puts in the fastest lap in a class that is selected randomly at each event. It could be Intermediate, Beginner or maybe the Mini Senior class…you won’t know until the day of the event. Put in one smoking-fast lap and the money is yours! New sponsors will be announced as we approach the season opener, as support from the Motorcycle Industry and aftermarket is behind us.”
Last year scheduling conflicts, weather and land use issues prevented some of our lofty goals from being realized. This year we will bring racing at some facilities we all wanted to see on the schedule. Racing at Walton has been a dream for many over the years, and 2011 is the year it will happen in off-road! Parry Sound, the site of two back-to-back WEC World Championships and two stellar CEC events, will also be on the calendar.
Motocross facilities like Gopher Dunes will be realized, as well as the proven Motopark, with completely revised and longer courses. Favourites from last year, including Wingham and Burnt River, will guarantee to please. Our grand finale at Wheatley, hosted by the great folks at the Erie Ramblers, will again showcase a course that incorporates features from all varieties of dirt racing.
Big news this year is that our fantastic Pee Wee riders are now competing for Championship status. Last year WEC introduced the concept of Pee Wee Cross-Country racing. They were introduced as a support class, as nobody knew if there were enough young riders out there to justify a Championship class. The riders came and WEC learned these “future stars” deserve what their older racers have… a true championship!
Online race license purchase is up and running on our site just as we introduced last year. The cost is the same as last year (yet subject to HST now). Get registered quickly to confirm your race number from last year. If you don’t purchase online we are at every event registering new license holders at no extra cost.
The complete 8 round schedule will be released shortly with 4 spring events and 4 fall events counting as separate championships. Please keep an eye on our site www.worldendurocanada.com for details. See you at the Races!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Team Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
