KTM backs Quebec adventure series

From KTM Canada

MONTREAL, QC -- MotoRally Canada and KTM Canada have unveiled the exciting new Quebec Dual-Sport and Adventure Ride Series and the Quebec TSD 2000 Navigational Rally for 2005. These events offer dual-sport and adventure motorcyclists the fun and excitement of navigating the varied terrain of Quebec’s many combination of dirt and paved roads in a safe, fully supported environment.

The adventure ride series consists of six non-competitive events in which dual-sport and adventure motorcyclists navigate a 200-300 km route on forest access roads, logging roads and public rights-of-way, all linked together using beautiful twisting pavement typical of the Quebec countryside. The events are modeled after European-style “rally-raids” in which riders use road-book instruction sheets and global positioning system (GPS) to follow the proposed route.

The Quebec TSD 2000 Navigational Rally is a five-day event held in St. Donat that will attract riders from all over Canada and the US. Time, speed and distance rallying will test a rider’s ability to precisely navigate a route. Participants collect penalty points for arriving at a checkpoint either too early or too late.

The event dates are tentatively set as follows:

Rally Raid Lac Toro (St. Ambroise-de-Kildare) - May 1; Rally Raid Papineau Labelle (St. Jovite) – June 4; Rally Raid Mastigouche (St. Alexis-des-Monts) - July 9; Rally Raid Quebec City (Beauport) - Aug. 6; Rally Raid Quebec 2000 (St. Donat)- Aug. 31-Sept. 4 and Sept. 3-4; Rally Raid Ottawa/Gatineau (Wakefield) - Sept. 17
