Jervis takes WMRRA title

By John Hopkins

Victoria, BC's Oliver Jervis claimed the overall number one plate in the Washington Motorcycle Road Racing Association in the series' final round at Pacific Raceways last weekend.

Jervis scored three wins in four of the classes he contested at the Kent, WA venue and was second in the other, giving him four class championships and the overall title.

In 600 Supersport, held on a drying track, Jervis took his Zlock Racing Kawasaki ZX-6R past Eli Edwards on the final lap to secure his first win of the day and the class crown.

Dan [Zock]'s experience in these conditions paid off in spades," Jervis pointed out. "He made the final tire choice, at the last minute opting for a medium SC2 Pirelli rear rain tire."

He followed that up with a narrow victory over Joshua Ellingson in Lightweight Superbike, which completed a perfect season for Jervis aboard the Zlock "SVZR."

Jervis completed his winning run in 600 Superbike, where he took the win after Edwards crashed.

In Middleweight GP Twins Jervis, aboard his SV650, enjoyed an intense battle with the Yamaha TZ250 of Kevin Scheafer. Although he had to settle for second spot on this occasion Jervis had enough points to lock up his fourth class championship of the season.

"This may sound odd to those that know me well, but I'm struggling to find the words to describe how I'm feeling right now," Jervis said in summing up his weekend. "It certainly hasn't sunk in that we captured the WMMRA Championship. It almost seems surreal. All the race weekends, traveling, late nights, early mornings, tires, race gas, team dinners, and all the laughs and good times now seem a blur."
