Halifax racer Adam Roberts clinched the USGPRU 250GP national title in the final round of the season at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele Valley, UT on Saturday.

Roberts rode his RAT Racing / Pro Cycle Yamaha TZ250 to a fifth place finish in the Utah race to add the national championship to the East Coast crown he clinched earlier this summer at Shannonville Motorsport Park.

The USGPRU races were held in very wet conditions on Saturday, putting a premium on handling and concentration and placing even more pressure on the championship contenders.

In the 250GP class, Melissa Paris edged Allen Campbell by 0.139 secs. to claim the victory, with Miles Thornton third.

Royce McLean had an easier time of it in the 125GP class, posting a 9.294-sec. margin of victory over veteran Nobi Iso, while Thornton took third again.

In the Moriwaki 250H Powered by Honda spec class, Jake Lewis cruised to a 29.917-sec. victory over newly-crowned Red Bull U.S. Rookie Cup champion Benny Solis Jr., with Thornton making it a clean sweep of thirds.

Class championships went to Iso in 125GP, Roberts in 250GP and Lewis in Moriwaki 250H.

Roberts finished the 250GP season with 319 points to the 270 of Vincent Rolleri, the USGPRU West Coast champion from Huntington Beach, CA, who placed seventh at Miller.

Roberts had a win at Florida's JenningsGP to his credit this season, along with four runner-up finishes and a third in the national standings.
