From Mosport International Raceway
TORONTO, ON - The 1st annual Motorcycle Road Racers Reunion will be held in conjunction with the Parts Canada Superbike Doubleheader Weekend at Mosport International Raceway, July 17-19.
Scheduled for the Saturday (July 18), the Reunion will feature 11 prominent racers and one Legendary Sidecar Racing Team from over the years as the "Masters of Mosport" and they will participate in a parade lap and an autograph session during the lunch break that day.
A special commemorative poster featuring the "Masters of Mosport" is being produced and will include Lang Hindle, Rueben McMurter, Michel Mercier, Dan Sorenson, Frank Mrazek, Clive Ng-A-Kien, Gerry Marshall, Paul MacMillan, and the sidecar pair of Greg Cox and Bill Davidson.
“I’ve thought about having a Motorcycle Road Racers Reunion for many years now and had suggested to a number of people that it would be a great addition to Canada’s biggest motorcycle road race, held every year at Mosport,” said the event's creator, Pat Gonsalves, who also hosts the TSN television broadcast of the Parts Canada Superbike Series.
“My visit to the Daytona 200 Monument back in March was the inspiration for doing the Reunion. I hope that the Motorcycle Road Racers Reunion grows into an annual event where all racers, their families, friends and race fans can gather to celebrate with all riders.
"This event will also have a fundraising component, with a portion of the special VIP Motorcycle Road Racers Reunion ticket going to the new Canadian Rider Safety Fund and the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame.”
All former and current motorcycle road racers (both pro and amateur) are invited to be part of the festivities by purchasing a special Motorcycle Road Racers Reunion Saturday Ticket which gets the racer and a guest admission to Mosport, access to the VIP Motorcycle Road Racers Area in Turn 1 with Grandstand seating, and lunch on Saturday.
The Motorcycle Road Racers Reunion will also include a special display of classic racing motorcycles from the Bar Hodgson collection, sponsored by the International Motorcycle Super Show, and a silent auction with proceeds being donated to the Canadian Rider Safety Fund and the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
Motorcycle Road Racers Reunion tickets are $50 each and must be purchased in advance.
For more information about Mosport ticket packages and camping, call the Mosport Hotline at 1-800-866-1072 (Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm ET) or visit online at www.mosport.com. Tickets are also available at Ticketmaster.
