Schmidt and Zottmann once again dominate CMRA Round #2

Calgary AB Canada – Matt Schmidt and Mike Zottmann of Mountain Toys Racing once again left the field behind them in their respective races during the CMRA Round #2 event held June 13-14, 2009.

Zottmann got off to an early lead in the Blackfoot Motosports Heavyweight race aboard his GSX-R1000 and never looked back. Mike led the entire race and continued on to win with no one challenging him for the lead. In the Tage Davidson Drywall Supplies Open Superbike race Zottmann and Pete Holzinger pulled from the field right from the flag drop with Holzinger entering corner 1 before Zottmann. Holzinger and Zottmann drag raced down the back straight on lap 1 with Mike showing a wheel into the bus stop and making the pass. Former Champion Holzinger was forced to brake and ultimately fall down, only to get up and finish an impressive 2nd.  Zottmann won the race with a very commanding lead and continues to sit 1st overall in both classes.

Matt Schmidt started the Calgary Motorsports Middleweight race sitting in the pole position and eventually won the race after a red flag was thrown on lap 7 causing the race to come to a stop. Officials decided to restart the race with 4 laps to go. Schmidt managed to out brake Jesse Sherstan with his GSX-R600 into corner 1 on the 4 lap restart, left the field behind him and crossed the checker flag in 1st. The Mountain Toys Middleweight Superbike race was no different with Schmidt again sitting on pole position and once again pulling a huge gap on the field. Schmidt finished the race in 1st place, adding valuable points to his Championship points lead.

Schmidt and Zottmann will take on the Canadian Superbike Series on June 25-28, 2009 at Race City Motorsport Park in Calgary, Alberta aboard there Suzuki GSX-R equipment. Zottmann and Schmidt are looking to show their sponsors and home town crowd that they are heavy contenders and look forward to battling it out with all of the national teams.
