From Zero Motorcycles
Ottawa, ON (July 16, 2009) -- Zero Motorcycles Canada, from its headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario, today congratulated Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty for his bold move forward in promoting the adoption of electric vehicles in the Province of Ontario.
“The Premier’s announcement today is a tremendous show of support for all of us in the electric vehicle manufacturing industry,” said Stephen Bieda, Zero Motorcycles’ Director of Sales for Canada. “This provides a stimulus and acknowledges new and existing manufacturers as they continue to invest in ground-breaking electric vehicle technology.”
Zero Motorcycles is a world leader in full performance on and off road electric motorcycles. Manufactured in Santa Cruz, California (the Silicon Valley area), with battery cells made in Maple Ridge, BC, Zero Motorcycles has recently established a network of Independent Representatives offering sales and service across Canada. This sales channel stretches from Vancouver Island in the west to Ottawa in the east.
Zero Motorcycles has recently become the first electric motorcycle company to be added to the Transport Canada pre-clearance list and is growing in popularity with motorcycle enthusiasts as well as urban commuters looking to downsize from multiple family cars.
“We are particularly pleased with the Government’s plans to open up parking spaces and high-occupancy vehicle lanes for electric vehicles,” Bieda stated. “ While the current announcement does not make reference to fully electric street motorcycles like the 2009 Zero S Supermoto, we will be requesting a meeting with officials in the Ontario Government to ensure both current and prospective owners of electric motorcycles will have equal access to the incentives being offered.”
Canadian MSRP for the Zero S Supermoto is $12,530.
Zero Motorcycles is the next step in motorcycle evolution and represents the ultimate electric motorcycle technology. Unencumbered by conventional thinking about how they design, manufacture, and sell high performance electric motorcycles, they are on a mission to turn heads and revolutionize their industry by combining the best aspects of a traditional motorcycle with today’s most advanced technology.
Zero Motorcycles first entered the motorcycle industry in 2006 with the all-electric Drift. In 2008 they launched the Zero X which exceeded all expectations by selling out before the year’s end. Its success blazed the path for the long-awaited launch of the Zero S Supermoto motorcycle in April. Earlier this month, Zero Motorcycles announced the latest addition to its electric motorcycle product lineup with the Zero MX, which is made specifically for track riding and motocross.
