Injured Steeves out for season

From Vicious Racing

HALIFAX, NS -- Sitting third in ARL Pro Superbike points and coming off his two strongest weekends of the year, Vicious Cycle rider Terry Steeves was involved in a racing incident last Sunday afternoon during ARL Round 4 action at Atlantic Motorsports Park.

During the second of the weekend's Pro Superbike races, just past half distance, Steeves and another rider made contact, with both going down.

Steeves was transported to the Queen Elizabeth II hospital in Halifax. He was later diagnosed with a shoulder fracture, a broken neck at the C6 vertebrae, a concussion and a badly sprained ankle. Steeves expects to make a full recovery and will remain in a neck brace for the next three to six months.

Regrettably, this will put an end to his 2009 campaign.

"I'm disappointed because we have had so many people supporting us and it feels a little undone. My focus now is getting healthy again, then I'll decide where we go," he said.

A special thanks is extended to the Medical Rescue Team, all the corner marshals and the staff at the QEII hospital for their expert care. Steeves would also like to thank his team and his girlfriend Nicole for all their support.
