Mini RoadRace opener heavy on Ham

The opening round of the CMA National Mini RoadRacing Championships in Lumsden, SK on June 13 was a true family affair.

The Hams of White City, SK picked up seven podium finishes, including three race wins. Leading the way was Robyn Ham, who won Spec Supersport and the Women's class on her Honda. In fact, in the latter category she led a family sweep of the podium, with Jana Ham taking second and Brooke Ham third. Jana Ham was also second in Spec Supersport.

Other Hams to get into the act were Kevin, who placed second in Spec Thunder, and Intermediate winner Sharon.

Other families to figure in the results were the Stitches of Moose Jaw, the Finns from Bushnell Park, SK and the Stearns of Regina.

Brett Stitch took the 7-10 class on a Suzuki and Madelaine was third in Intermediate aboard a Yamaha. Jonathan Finn placed second in 7-10 riding a Honda and Shawn Finn was runner-up in Formula Supersport, also Honda mounted. Kevin Stearn placed second in Formula Thunder and Dawn Stearn was runner-up in Intermediate.

Calgary's Jacob Snell took a pair of class wins on his Honda, Motard and Formula Supersport. Other class winners were Rodney Bennie of Cabri, SK in Formula Thunder on a Yamaha, Calgary Honda rider Rob Haynes in Formula GP and Jay Baloch, also from Calgary, in Spec Thunder on a Honda. Baloch also placed second in Formula GP.

Saskatoon's Emil Peev finished third in Formula GP and Spec Supersport. Regina rider Maxx Ebenal took third in Spec Thunder and William Brown of Regina completed the 7-10 podium.
