Snellgrove completes sweep

From Speedway Park

Lockport, NY -- Speedway Park hosted the third and final round of its first-ever Indoor Flat Track Motorcycle Series Nov. 28. The final edition of the Fall series attracted its largest turnout of riders, including a number from Canada.

Bill Snellgrove continued his success by winning two more features, bringing his total to five for the series. Snellgrove completed the sweep of the 125cc Amateur class plus added his second win in the 150cc Adult class. The wins clinched the series championships in each of those divisions.

Joining Snellgrove as a double-winner was John Richenburg. Richenburg took the checkered flag in both the 250cc Amateur and Open Amateur classes.

In the Expert divisions Brian Newman and Brad Hazel renewed their rivalry. Both riders came into the event tied for the points lead in the 250cc Expert class and separated by one point in Open Expert. Newman would get the better of Hazel in both main events. It gave him an unofficial lock on both division titles as well. Newman finished the Fall Series with three feature wins.

Tom Crane clinched the 50cc Stock championship with his third-straight win. In the 50cc Modified class, Nick Hawkins scored his first win indoors at Speedway Park. The adults made their debut in the 50cc ranks, Gus Bakos captured the first 50cc Adult feature.

In 65cc competition Matt Zacher defeated Hawkins in a head to head main event. Calvin Marcov scored his second win of the Fall series by taking the 85cc feature.

The Flat Track Motorcycles will return to Speedway Park sometime during the winter months. Dates have yet to be announced for the series but the first race is tentatively scheduled for the end of January.
