Strong field expected for opener

From CMRC Quebec

REPENTIGNY, QC -- The 2006 summer season is coming up fast with the CMRC Quebec-sanctioned, Canadian National Dirt Track season opener scheduled for Saturday, May 6 at the Trois-Rivières Hippodrome.

Race promoter, Buddy Ford, has been promoting this event, held on the beautiful half-mile pea gravel horse track, for the past 20 years. Past Canadian champs Steve Beattie, Chris Evans and Dominic Beaulac, who will be riding for Carl Patrick in the U.S. this year, will all attend the season opener. Talks have also been held with Jarad Mees, Charlie Italia, Jess Roeder and Kenny Coolbeth to hit the event.

A full amateur program is also run during the day. Trophy classes include 50cc 4 to 9yrs, 65cc 5-11yrs, 85cc 7-15yrs, Youth 10-16yrs, Junior 450, Junior Open, Vet +35, ATV Junior Open; money classes are Intermediate 450, Intermediate Open, Pro 450, Pro Open, ATV Pro-Am 450, ATV Pro-Am Open, Speedway.
