From the Veterans Honour Ride
TORONTO, ON -- Led by members of the Toronto, OPP and York Regional police forces, the third annual Veterans Honour Ride (www.vhrf.com) was a huge success on Saturday, raising approximately $54,000 for the Veteran Comfort Funds at both Sunnybrook & Women’s Hospital and The Tony Stacey Center for Long-Term Veteran Care in Scarborough.
Ontario Commissioner Julian Fantino, Major General Lewis Mackenzie, Armand LaBarge (Chief of York Region Police), war veterans and members of the media rode in sidecars as the 350 motorcycle strong parade weaved its way through Toronto, making stops at both Sunnybrook and The Tony Stacey Center and then on up to Richmond Hill, where a large party was held.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to this charity may contact Maralyn Randall at 416-399-8619.
Canada has proclaimed 2005 the official “Year of the Veteran” a celebration of courage.
