CALGARY, AB -- Thunder series sponsors BMW, Buell and Ducati have announced that the class for Twins motorcycles has added a second National Championship round at Mosport International on Saturday, July 16.
The Mosport, ON event in the 2005 Parts Canada Superbike Championship was originally slated to offer a single Thunder race, but the recent cancellation of the Mont-Tremblant series round created an opportunity for an additional race at the famed Mosport International facility.
“Championships always work better if we can maintain the number of events,” explained Professional Motorsports Productions director of competition Brian Williams. “The decision by the Thunder class sponsors to add a Saturday race at Mosport makes for a more representative championship. Everyone involved with Thunder is looking forward to Mosport – we expect great racing, and the competitors really enjoy the layout.”
The 2005 season marks the first year for the Thunder class on the National tour. The opening race at Shannonville Motorsport Park was won by Ducati racer Derek Vammus, after a spirited battle with Buell racers Darren James and Bill Card, as well as early race challenger Chris Duff aboard a BMW.
