Jervis takes pair of wins

By John Hopkins

Victoria, BC's Oliver Jervis rode the Zlock Racing SVZR to a pair of wins in the third round of the OMRRA series last weekend.

Jervis was victorious in the 650 GP Twins event and followed that up with first place in Middleweight Superbike after a good dice with the Honda RS125-framed CRF450 of Cedric Smith.

"Cedric rocks on this bike and carries corner speed that leaves most people drooling," Jervis explained. "For the first half of the race we pretty much took it easy getting a feel for each other's relative strengths, but by the halfway mark we were certainly starting to push each other. On the last lap I managed to get through traffic quite efficiently and hold him to win by only nine thousandths of a second."

Jervis also managed a runner-up finish in a dramatic 600 Superbike race on board Zlock's Kawasaki ZX-6R. Jervis was embroiled in a lead battle that included Mike Sullivan, Alan Schmidt and Chris Ancien when Ancien crashed just in front of the Kawasaki. Ancien's downed bike made contact with Jervis's front tire, bending a brake rotor, although Jervis didn't realize it until he found himself out of brakes entering turn one on the following lap.

Despite this setback Jervis was able to nip Schmidt for second at the line behind race winner Sullivan.

Jervis placed fourth in 600 Supersport on the ZX-6R, a missed shift causing him to lose touch with the lead battle of Sullivan, Schmidt and Ancien.
