BCCOM receives special grant

From the BC Coalition of Motorcyclists

On Jan. 23 the Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council (MMIC) and the Canadian National Sportsmen's Shows (CNSS) presented BCCOM with a $15,000 grant at the Vancouver Motorcycle Show.

The funding will be used this spring to fund a motorcycle awareness campaign throughout BC. It is the organization's goal to make drivers pay more attention to motorcyclists and learn how to share the road safely.

More information on the MMIC can be found at www.mmic.ca and more information on the CNSS and its shows can be found at this link: www.sportshows.ca.

Additionally, Trev Deeley Motorcycles donated $1.00 from each ticket it sold to the Vancouver Motorcycle Show to the BCCOM.

The first annual Victoria Motorcycle Swap Meet will take place on Sunday, Feb. 22 at Luxton Hall. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. and everyone is welcome. Admission is $5.00 and vendor tables are $50.00 each. Please contact Dan for more info at (250) 743-6611. All admission proceeds support BCCOM.

The BCCOM is selling Trip Logs as a fundraiser for the Coalition. They are little booklets that are great to have on trips to keep track of your kilometers, fuel consumption, destinations, weather, etc. They are available for $5.00 plus $1.50 for shipping. If you would like to order one please contact the office at office@bccom-bc.com, (604) 580-0111 or 1-877-580-0111.

The Vancouver International Auto Show, which is coming up on March 31-April 5 at BC Place Stadium, has added a Motorcycle Expo. It will be home to motorcycles, scooters, accessories and vintage displays. For more information check them out on-line: www.VancouverInternationalAutoShow.com

There will be no MLA Ride this May. Due to the upcoming election on May 12, the House will not be sitting at the time when the BCCOM normally has its annual ride.
