Inside Motorcycles sponsors Junior prize

From World Enduro Canada

TORONTO, ON -- Inside Motorcycles has become a media partner of the Canadian Enduro Championship and will sponsor the Pro Junior Award at each of the eight rounds of the inaugural 2009 season. The prize will be known as the Inside Motorcycles Top Junior Award.

The Inside Motorcycles trophy will be presented to the top finishing Pro Junior at each event and a $500 cheque will go to the top Pro Junior at the final round of the series in Parry Sound, Ont. The Junior class will be limited to riders who are 20 years old or younger as of the opening round of the season on July 4.

"We have been very impressed by the efforts of everyone involved with the Canadian Enduro Championship and we are proud to play a role in the inaugural season for this new series," said John Hopkins, editor of Inside Motorcycles. "Inside Motorcycles has always prided itself on paying particular attention to the young up and comers in the sport, and we feel recognizing the highest finishing Junior Pro at each CEC event is an extension of that commitment."

The format of the CEC rounds will be similar to that used in the World Enduro Championship, with events consisting of three types of timed special tests – cross country, extreme and enduro – and shorter loops of trail connecting the tests.

The inaugural Canadian Enduro Championship opens July 4-5 in Blairmore, Alta. and continues a week later in Penticton, B.C. It then heads east for an event in Labelle, Que. on Sept. 12-13 before wrapping up in Parry Sound Sept. 19-20. Each event will consist of two races.

"We are very proud to have Inside Motorcycles magazine as a media partner for the CEC," said Lawrence Hacking of World Enduro Canada, which will sanction and promote the Canadian Enduro Championship. "The addition of the Inside Motorcycles Top Junior Award is going to bring some great exposure to the best young riders in Canada. It’s our hope that the extra recognition will motivate the talented youth in Canada to pursue their off road racing dreams and build a solid field of Pros in future seasons."

World Enduro Canada organized rounds of the World Enduro Championship in Parry Sound in 2006 and 2007 and last season sanctioned the Corduroy Enduro and Parry Sound Grand Prix.

In 2009 it will organize and sanction national enduro, cross country and observed trials competition. More details can be found at www.worldendurocanada.com.
