Sepang extends deal for three years

From motogp.com

The Sepang International Circuit will appear in the FIM MotoGP World Championship until 2013 after an extension of the current agreement between the circuit and MotoGP commercial rights holders Dorna Sports was made.

The Sepang International Circuit has been a regular feature on the MotoGP race calendar since 1999 and next year’s race weekend, to be held on Oct. 21-23, will be the 13th time that the circuit hosts the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta said: “I’m delighted with the extension of the agreement with Malaysia, a country with such a tradition of passion for MotoGP. The Sepang International Circuit, a favourite for riders, has proven to be a state of the art venue both in terms of sheer spectacle and safety.

"After the celebration of 20 years of MotoGP in Malaysia this year, it is very good news that we will continue to co-operate with SIC as they have lots of experience organizing international motorsports events.”

Sepang CEO Razlan Razali said: “I’m very happy with the extension of this agreement, which reflects the government commitment to further develop motorsports in Malaysia. The government recognizes the huge economic impact brought by the event to the country in terms of tourism-related revenue as well as the progress in the motorsports field thanks to the celebration of a MotoGP event in Malaysia.”
