MotoGP plans Malaysian flood relief

In support of the Malaysian government’s attempt to raise funds to help flood victims, the Sepang International Circuit will organize a special donation campaign named ‘RM2 or More’ at the official MotoGP test, which takes place from Feb. 22-24.

Those moving through the Circuit’s gates during the three-day test next week will be encouraged to make a minimum donation of RM2, which will be put towards the flood relief funds, in an effort to aid the 31,000 people who have been evacuated over the past week after the Johor state was badly affected.

“As all of us know, the effects of the flood this time round were massive. It was the worst flood ever to hit Johor,” said Sepang Circuit CEO Dato Ahmad Razlan Ahmad Razali. “Anybody who passes through the gates during the test including circuit staff, contractors and suppliers are encouraged to drop a minimum donation of RM2 (about 70 cents Canadian) which will be channelled to the flood relief funds.

“We had a good turnout at the first test earlier this month including foreign fans, and I am hoping for more fans to turn up to the circuit for the second test. On top of catching their idols in action, they can also show their compassion for the flood victims.”
