Update -- Reed dropped to seventh

By John Hopkins

AMA Supercross Series points leader Chad Reed has been dropped from sixth to seventh in the results of Friday night's chaotic round at Daytona International Speedway.

According to a news release from Yamaha, the Yamaha San Manuel rider was docked a position for cutting the track. The Australian was leading the race comfortably on the wet and muddy course when his bike died just a few corners from the finish, handing the win to his closest championship rival Kevin Windham.

"It just sucked water and mud through the air boot," said Larry Brooks, San Manuel Yamaha team manager. "There was standing water on the track, and the bike sucked water and dirt, and when he stopped to line up for a rut, it just had no compression, got stuck in some mud and stopped."

Reed now leads the Supercross standings by 23 points over Windham.
