Yamaha completes Assen tests

From Yamaha Racing

A two-day test for the Yamaha World Supersport Team at the Dutch TT-Assen circuit proved to be a useful operation for the team on their way to the fourth round of the World Supersport Championship to be held at that same venue next week.

During the private tests, which wrapped up Thursday, the team had the opportunity to run the latest Pirelli development tires and focus on the ideal set-up for their YZF-R6 machines. Fabien Foret, a proven race winner at Assen and Broc Parkes hope that the privilege to get re-accustomed to the track will give them a winning advantage for the upcoming race, taking place on April 27.

In dry but cold conditions the team was able to work on several technical updates for the R6. Among them, specific gear ratios for Assen and modified clutch components for enhanced starts were tested and analyzed. Furthermore the team put in significant effort to work through various suspension settings in order to improve handling and balance.

"We are glad to have been able to test here at Assen for these two days," said team manager Wilco Zeelenberg. "For sure the tests have proven to be a good preparation for the next race on the calendar and the remaining races further ahead. We managed to gather loads of new data and test several new components. Many of them proved to be a step forward. Pity that the conditions were cold, but chances are that we will have low temperatures next week as well."
