Steve Shreeve

By John Hopkins

Ajax, ON-based motorcycle road racer Steve Shreeve, one of the contributors to the formation of the Southern Ontario Association of Racing (SOAR), died last weekend at Toronto Motorsport Park in Cayuga, ON.

Although nothing official has been released by SOAR, either through its website or its Facebook page, sources indicate that Shreeve was found unconscious in the early hours of Sunday morning and could not be revived.

SOAR's Tracy Chesher-McMillan posted a tribute to Shreeve on her Facebook page. A call to the SOAR office on Tuesday morning was not immediately returned.

Shreeve was at Toronto Motorsport Park for SOAR's Mid-Summer Motorcycle Mayhem weekend. SOAR had just started putting on road racing events at the facility this summer. Shreeve was involved in establishing the organization along with fellow racer Ken McAdam and Chesher-McMillan. Shreeve and McAdam were team-mates in occasional visits to the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series in the U.S.

To Shreeve's family and friends Inside Motorcycles offers its condolences.
