Taylor confirmed for Mosport

From Parkway Honda Powerhouse & ProStar Motorsports

TORONTO, ON -- Two-time Canadian Superbike Champion Michael Taylor of Toronto will come out of retirement to race a Parkway Honda Powerhouse Prostar Motorsports Honda CBR1000RR in the Parts Canada Superbike Championship Doubleheader at Mosport International Raceway July 17-19.

Taylor, who won Canadian Superbike titles in 1994 and 1996, last raced in the Parts Canada Superbike Championship at the final round of 2008 at Shannonville Motorsport Park where he qualified eighth and finished seventh.

The Honda ride was put together by Pat Barnes and Ben Gartner of ProStar Motorsports and will see the 43-year-old rider on a Superbike that will carry major sponsorship from Parkway Honda Powerhouse, located on Eglinton just east of the Don Valley Parkway in Toronto.

Other sponsors on the effort include Fast Company R & D, Blue Streak Racing (BSR), Hindle, Pirelli, Parts Canada and VP Racing Fuels Ontario.

Scott Miller of Fast Company will be working with Gartner and the ProStar crew in preparing the Honda CBR1000RR for the two Mosport Superbike races.

In addition to his two Superbike Championships, Taylor also won the 1998 Canadian Open Sportbike title and gave BMW a Canadian Thunder Championship in 2007.

“I am very excited about the opportunity as Mosport is my favourite track," he said. "I’m in pretty good shape and will be doing a lot of rollerblading in the next couple of weeks to get ready for the weekend.”

The team plans to get in some early tack time at Mosport by participating in the Open Practice day on Thursday, July 16 before official practice and qualifying on Friday, July 17.

Taylor will be joining fellow Honda riders Marie Josee Boucher and Jodi Christie along with the Honda CBR125R Challenge Series racers at the Honda Indy Toronto over the weekend of July 10-12.
