Turn 2 extravaganza at Calabogie

From Turn 2 Sportbike School

CALABOGIE, ON - Turn 2 Sportbike School wrapped up the 2010 season in style last weekend with the running of the inaugural Turn 2 Moto Club GP Labour Day Weekend races at Calabogie Motorsports Park.

Mother Nature teased the facility with a few sprinkles on Saturday afternoon, but the energy and enthusiasm in the paddock was strong enough to deter the rain from dampening the riders' spirits. Sunday started off cool with partially overcast skies, but the sun smiled on racers and spectators many times throughout the day, which made for great race conditions.

"None of this would be possible without the support of our sponsors, partners, students, racers, fans, as well as our instructors and support staff."  said company president George Budacki. "It is a dream come true, and just wait until you see what we have planned for next year."

The grid for the Turn 2 Moto Club GP Superbike class was nearly full, and the Supersport grid was healthy as well.

Many CRG 2 and CRG 3 students signed up last minute to join their friends and fellow Moto Club members for their first time in the mock race. The goal of the event was to maintain a friendly club environment, and the success of it was largely due to the entrants and the Turn 2 Moto Club members.

The CRG 1 Best Lap award went to Marc Audette, who pulled off a spirited 2:33.841 on his first visit to Calabogie and impressed the Turn 2 CRG instructors with smoothness and an amazing ability to adapt to the layout of the track.

The Turn 2 Moto Club Grand Prize winner was Alexandre Cleary, who took away a brand new 2010 Kawasaki Ninja 250R courtesy of Kahuna Powersports, a full set of NEXO road-race gear, complimented with a Zox helmet.
