Stapleton still perfect

Transplanted Australian Jake Stapleton maintained his perfect record in the CMA National Hare Scrambles Series by winning the fifth round in Moorefield, ON July 13.

The Parry Sound, ON resident took his Yamaha to victory in the Pro class and now has a perfect 75 points in the standings to the 56 of Pontypool, ON's Brian Wojnarowski, who placed second in Moorefield, also on a Yamaha.

Aaron Wilkins of Kinmount, ON placed third in the race and Kevin Cockayne of Kincardine, ON was fourth, both aboard KTMs, while Tyler Linton of Palgrave, ON rounded out the top five on a Honda.

Chad Burford of Schomberg, ON scored his third win of the year in the Expert class and maintained his class points lead. Brandon Lawson of Woodville, ON made it a Yamaha 1-2 with the runner-up finish and Lee Hill of Shelbourne, ON was third on a KTM, but neither is an immediate threat to Burford in the points chase.

Burford now has 63 points to the 50 of Uxbridge, ON's Kevin Burley, who finished seventh in Moorefield, with Frank Cantin of Essex, ON third with 40 after a fifth-place result in round five.

Michael Jonker of Brockville, ON won for the second straight race in the Intermediate class and the KTM rider took over the points lead. Steven Shaw of Uxbridge, ON placed second on a Yamaha and Grand Bend, ON's Aaron Wilcox was third on a Honda.

Randy Zuest of Rockwood, ON got his first win of 2008 in Vet Expert on his Husqvarna, beating the Husky of Pau Andratis and the Yamaha of points leader Don Given.

In Veteran, Wayne Brogan of Palgrave, ON won for the fourth time aboard his KTM to extend his points lead.

Elmo Rutnik also made it four wins from five races in Super Veteran on his KTM, and Honda rider Amanda Hutchinson beat points leader Ainsley Farr in the Women's class.

Other class winners were Andrew Powell in Novice A on a KTM, and series leader Jesse Grummett in Youth aboard a TM.
