Lenz wins three in BC

By John Hopkins

Peter Lenz of Vancouver, WA picked up a trio of victories in the fourth round of the CMA National Mini Road Racing Series in Abbotsford, BC July 26-27.

Lenz rode his KTM to his third win of the year in the Formula Thunder class, giving him a commanding 33-point lead in the standings, then took a Honda to first place in the Formula GP class to close the gap to series leader Bodhi Edie.

After winning the first three Formula GP events of the season, Warman, SK's Edie had to settle for second in Abbotsford on his Honda and now has an 18-point lead on Lenz in the standings, 57-39.

Third in Formula GP was Stuart Johnson of Surrey, BC on another Honda.

Lenz's third win came in Spec Supersport, again on a Honda. Edie was also second in this event and saw his class lead shrink to just a point over Lenz, 46-45. Geoff Gerbrandt of Martinsville, SK was fourth on a Yamaha and is just three points out of the class lead with 43.

Casey Anderson of Port Coquitlam, BC won the Spec Thunder race at Abbotsford on a Yamaha. But with a second place finish, Calgary's Chris Wilson moved into a tie for second spot in the standings with Jay Fox on 29 points, just one behind series leader Dave Stokowski, also from Calgary, who did not score in Abbotsford.

Gerbrandt took his third straight win in Spec Motard to open up an 11-point lead over Devin Edie in the standings.

Other winners in Abbotsford were Victoria's Ayrton Hall in Youth 7-10, and Chris Mah of Edmonton, who swept Youth 10-16, Pocket Bike Open and Pocket Bike 40cc.
