From LTD Racing
MARIETTA, GA -- Huntley Nash and Joey Pascarella will contest the 2009 AMA Pro Racing SuperSport East division for LTD Racing. Both will ride Yamaha YZF-R6 machines prepared by Chris Birkle of Racing Sport Services. Jason Parker will be the team crew chief.
Nash and Pascarella are two talented young racers eager to make their mark on the US racing scene. Both participated in the Red Bull AMA US Rookies Cup in 2007 and had been selected to race in the series once again before the 2009 Rookies Cup was canceled in January. The team name, LTD Racing, stands for "Living the dream."
"Joey and I were both looking forward to racing the Rookies Cup again this season, but unfortunately it was called off," said Nash. "At first, we were afraid we wouldn't be able to race at all this year but we really wanted to be out there improving after we both did well in the Rookies Cup last year."
"We're both really excited we are going to be able to race this year on some fast, new bikes in an exciting class," said Pascarella. "It should be a lot of fun racing against some quick racers close to our own ages and we expect to do very well. We've been training hard all winter and are ready to get to Daytona and get the bikes set up and start racing."
Pascarella, from Vacaville, CA, finished an impressive seventh in the 2008 Red Bull Rookies Cup. He's known for his aggressive and fast riding style he developed motcrossing and racing Supermoto. Nash, from Marietta, GA, finished 10th in the Rookies Cup last year in what was essentially his first full season in racing.
Birkle, who has prepared bikes for racers like Mike Harth, Geoff May, and Matt Lynn in the past, said he likes the rules in the Super Sport class.
"I think it's good for AMA Pro Racing to have a true production class," said Birkle. "It is a good format for young racers like Joey and Huntley. We have our bikes and are prepping them now. It will be the typical rush to get them ready for Daytona but we are excited about the upcoming season."
Both bikes will feature Ohlins suspension and the series control tires supplied by Dunlop.
AMA Pro Racing SuperSport features racers 16 to 21 on 600cc machines with a minimum of modifications. It is a new class for 2009 and is designed as an entry level series. Racers are limited to three seasons in the class.
