From Zero Motorcycles
SANTA CRUZ, CA – Zero Motorcycles has announced that Scot Harden has joined the company as Vice President of Global Marketing.
Harden, who comes to Zero from BMW/Husqvarna, brings more than 40 years of racing, management, product development and brand building experience in the motorcycle industry to Zero. Throughout his career, Harden has held executive sales, marketing and race team management positions with a proven record of success in expanding market share and enhancing brand awareness for leading European motorcycle OEMs, most notably KTM, dating back to 1982. He returned to BMW/Husqvarna in 2008 and served as the National Marketing Director and Race Team Manager prior to making the jump to Zero.
"Scot is a seasoned veteran, whose experience, management style and innovative thinking will help us to achieve new levels of brand awareness and market acceptance while complementing our existing efforts,” said Gene Banman, CEO of Zero Motorcycles. “He is an excellent addition to our management team and we are looking forward to working with Scot in his new capacity at Zero Motorcycles.”
Harden began his career in 1973 as a Husqvarna factory Baja/Desert rider and he remained with the team until 1986, cementing his induction to the AMA Hall of Fame by amassing 20 different International motorcycle racing titles and more than 200 wins including two SCORE Baja 1000 wins, three SCORE Baja 500 wins and two SCORE Championship titles. Harden capped off his illustrious racing career by conquering the formidable Dakar Rally in 2005.
Among his many accolades and accomplishments, Harden served as Vice President of Marketing and Communications at KTM for more than 20 years where he developed the KTM Sportmini line of motorcycles and the KTM Jr Supercross Challenge.
“I couldn’t be more excited or more invigorated by the opportunities that lie ahead for Zero,” said Harden. “We have a real chance to transform the industry and I’m looking forward to working with the team at Zero to implement their vision and to see the change that it will bring.”
