Schouten's RACE endurance video

From IM Staff

On Aug. 27-28, organizers of the Shannonville RACE SuperSeries hosted a four-hour endurance race, which was open to accredited racers of all skill levels and to machines of several makes and models.

Inside Motorcycles columnist Vicki Schouten, who has been working with CBC’s George Stroumboulopoulos to help him develop his on track skills, suggested putting a team together for the event. It was decided that the team would enter George’s Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, with Vicki, George and CBR125 amateur racer Nicole Pilkington as the riders.

Due to the length of the event, endurance racing was considered by Schouten to be a great opportunity for seat time for George, a novice racer and for Nicole (aged 17), who had never ridden a 600cc sport bike. It would also serve as an opportunity for Schouten to return to racing after being sidelined with a broken foot for the majority of the summer.

George was unable to attend at the last minute, so Nicole’s father Stuart, an experienced vintage racer, offered to step in. This would also be Stuart’s first time racing a modern day sport bike.

The team, aptly named ‘The Rookies,’ managed a podium finish and took home third place in the Sportbike class. Check out the video for detailed footage of the event.
