Edie clinches two titles

Honda rider Bodhi Edie put the finishing touches on a pair of CMA National Mini Road Racing titles at the final round of the season in Martensville, SK on Aug. 30-31.

The Warman, SK native won the Formula GP race and the Spec Supersport counter. He finished a comfortable 27 points clear of Calgary's Jay Fox in the Formula GP final standings with 87 points to Fox's 50. Spec Supersport was much closer with Edie 13 points clear of Martinsville, SK's Geoff Gerbrandt, 76-63.

Fox finished second in Formula GP in Martensville on a Honda while fellow Calgary rider Rob Haynes placed third, also Honda-mounted.

In Spec Supersport the podium was rounded out by Gerbrandt's Yamaha and Fox.

Fox took the Spec Thunder crown with a fourth place finish in the season finale. The race was won by KJ Gamblin of Sherwood Park, AB on a Yamaha, with Calgary's Ian McWhirter second, aso on a Yamaha, and Haynes third.

New Spec Motard champion Gerbrandt scored his fifth straight class win ahead of McWhirter and Gamblin.

KTM rider Peter Lenz of Vancouver, WA had already locked up the Formula Thunder title. The race win in Martensville went to Gamblin, with Haynes second and Patrice Lambert of Edmonton third on a Pitster.

Other national champions included Chris Mah of Edmonton, who wrapped up the Youth 10-16 crown with a win on a BMS, and aso triumphed in Pocket Bike 40cc aboard a GRC.

Mah also won the Pocket Bike Open race on his GRC but had to settle for second in the final standings behind fellow Edmonton GRC rider Mike Salamandick, who placed second in the race.

Cody Conrad of Calgary took home the Youth 7-10 crown thanks to a fourth place finish in Martensville on his Yamaha. Milan Jablan of Saskatoon won the race on a KTM.

Brooke Ham of White City, SK won the Women's race aboard her Honda and took home the Canadian title.
