Gobeil sweeps to championship

Maxine Gobeil of Alma, QC completed a perfect season to take the CMA National Trials Expert title and number one plate in Deschambault, QC on Aug. 23-24.

The GasGas rider won the final two events of the series in Deschambault to end the year with a perfect 45 points. Jonathan English of Thunder Bay, ON placed second in all three series events to take second in the Expert standings, and Daniel Munro of St-Anaclet de Lessard, QC claimed third over Riviere-du-Loup, QC's Guy Poirier in a tie breaker.

Martin Roy of Repentigny, QC won the Intermediate title with a second place finish in the final two rounds on his Scorpa. Francois Lavergne of Trois-Rivieres, QC (Montesa) and Durham, QC's Brian Hunt won the Deschambault events.

Bob Billyard of Cambridge, ON and Beta rider Michel Belanger from Notre Dame du Portage, QC were victorious in the Junior events, But with a third and a second over the two days Dartmouth, NS's Stephane Lachance won the championship on a GasGas.

Trevor Howarth of Brantford, ON had a fourth and a first to clinch the Veteran title on his GasGas. Beta rider Paul-Yvan Belanger of Nore Dame du Portage, QC won the other Deschambault round.

Neil Carter of Burlington, ON is the Super Veteran champ. The Sherco rider split the Deschambault wins with fellow Sherco rider Paul Howarth of Aurora, ON.

Yvon Tremblay of Val Belair, QC swept the final two rounds to claim the Vintage championship on his Honda.
