Pirelli fans raise $5,000 for charities

From Pirelli North America

ROME, GA – At the inaugural dual round of World Superbike/AMA Superbike races at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT, Pirelli entertained fans who helped raise $5,000 for two powerful charities: Racing 2 Save Lives and the Roadracing World Action Fund. Pirelli would like to thank these fans for their support of these two charities.

To support these funds Pirelli sold spectators numerous sporting items such as books, hats and T-shirts, donating 100% of the proceeds to these two well known and proactive funds. Racing 2 Save Lives raises funds for children’s charities while the Roadracing World Action Fund is dedicated to protecting the safety of racers.

Sharon Foxworthy, President of Racing 2 Save Lives, said, “We're delighted with this unexpected donation from Pirelli and racing fans to our foundation, and our volunteers had a great time working this event with the Pirelli people. Since our fund was created in 2004, this latest donation has pushed our total raised for various children’s charities to over $200,000."

Roadracing World Action Fund’s Vice President, Trudy Ulrich commented, “This fund has served racers since 2001, and this great gift takes our new total of funds raised to over $600,000. The use of soft barriers has saved lives and reduced injuries more than any other option for absorbing impact. Our fund helps educate the public and increase race track safety by purchasing soft barriers and deploying and demonstrating their use at various race tracks throughout the United States, and by providing motorcycle racing safety education at our website.”
