Six races scheduled for Alberta ice series

From the Second Gear Club

The 2009 ice racing season will be the largest series in many years organized by the Second Gear Club based in Calgary. The six events will include three Nationals with guaranteed prize money.

The 2009 calendar is as follows:
Jan. 25 - Chestermere Lake, AB (Calgary Area)
Feb. 1 - Dodds Lake, Innisfail, AB
Feb. 8 - Cow Lake, Rocky Mountain House - National
Feb. 15 - Gull Lake, Rimbey, AB - National
Feb. 22 - Sylvan Lake, AB
Mar. 1 - Lac La Biche, AB - National (Date To be Confirmed)

Oval ice racing is a fantastic spectator event with motorcycles reaching speeds of 110km/h on a quarter-mile oval. Quads and sidecars are equally as exciting. The non-studded quad class entices many new riders into ice racing as few modifications are needed. Youth quad and motorcycle classes are also offered.

Equipment requirements are available on the club website (www.secondgearclub.com) or by visiting the Second Gear Club booth at the Calgary or Edmonton Motorcycle Shows. The booth will be located close the the AMRA mini roadracing track.

The club can also be reached by emai at info@secondgearclub.com.

The Second Gear Club also offers off-road hare scrambles and trials sport series in 2009 with classes for all ages. Classes are based on skill level, not age or bike size.
