Police presence for Harley at Toronto show

From Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada

CONCORD, ON – In May 2006, Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada partnered with the Ontario Police College, and since then has offered unique courses in police motorcycle operator training and certified instructor training for law enforcement officers from throughout North America.

This partnership was developed to supplement existing programs and to offer a high level of motor officer skills training. Given Harley-Davidson Police motorcycles’ 100 years of duty and millions of miles in service to law enforcement agencies around the world, this program was an obvious choice.

Traditional Harley-Davidson models such as the FLHTPI Electra Glide and the FLHPI Road King, which have long since established themselves as reliable police intervention units, have been subject to several leading innovations for 2009, including an Anti-lock Brake System, a Break-Away Lexan Windshield, and Bead-Retention 180 tires on a 1690cc Twin Cam 103 engine, mounted to a new frame and swingarm.

To compliment the range, Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada is now also releasing into the Canadian market – as an exclusive to police departments in Canada – a new nimble “special duty” patrol vehicle capable of travel over a variety of terrain, from open highways to city streets to unpaved back-country roads: the Buell Ulysses Police XB12XP.

Based on the versatile Buell Ulysses adventure sportbike, the Ulysses Police features long-travel suspension, generous ground clearance, and aggressive tires that allow it to tackle roads too rough or narrow for confident travel in an automobile or on a traditional police motorcycle. On smooth pavement, the Ulysses Police is an agile sport motorcycle. The Ulysses Police can also accommodate a passenger.

Pat Kealey, Fleet Manager of Police, Fire and Military with Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada, will be displaying the Buell Ulysses Police XB12XP for the first time in Canada, at MMIC Motorcycle Shows across the country.

You will first have the opportunity to see the Buell Ulysses Police XB12XP at the MMIC Toronto Motorcycle Show from Dec. 12-14 at the Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada booth (#1039), situated right in the middle of the back row on Level 800 of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre South Building.
