Taylor wins White award again

HAMILTON, ON -- The Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Motorcycle Association was held on Dec. 6 at the Visitors Inn in Hamilton.

Directors elected for a two-year term were Joseph Godsall (British Columbia) and Marc-Andre Thibeault (Quebec). Continuing in the second year of their two-year terms are David Hewgill (Alberta), Paul Imrie (Saskatchewan), Hugh Lim (Ontario) and Holly Ralph (Director At Large).

The 2008 Awards of Honour were announced and in the Fulvio Callimaci Supporters Award category the recipients are the Lower Mainland Motocross Club of Mission, BC (For Contribution to and support of the CMA motocross programme in BC) and Mark Daub of the Northern Exposure Rally in Blind River, ON (For support of the CMA through Member Recruitment).

The first recipient of the newly created Government Award is the City of Toronto for its introduction of a “free parking for motorcycles” policy.

In the category of Competition Awards, the 2008 winner of the White Memorial Trophy, given to the Canadian rider who has the most outstanding performance in winning a #1 Plate, is Donald Taylor of Welland, ON. This is the third White Trophy for Taylor, who has dominated the dirt track scene for the past several years.

The Bert Irwin Memorial ISDE Award for the best performance at the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) goes to Dave Neumeister for his silver medal ride this year in Greece. Neumeister is an Albertan currently living in Loveland, CO.

At a Directors Meeting immediately following the AGM, Godsall was elected as CMA president and David Hewgill as vice-president.

Warren Hilton (Manitoba) was appointment to vacancy and elected as an executive committee member. The Committee also includes the president, vice president and the CEO (without voting rights).
