Motorcycle racer Robert Dunlop has died from injuries he sustained during a crash at the North West 200 in Northern Ireland on Thursday.
According to a report on the website of the British magazine Motorcycle News, Dunlop's bike appeared to seize while travelling at a speed of around 160 mph and he was thrown over the handlebars. He was taken to hospital but later died of his injuries.
The 48-year-old's brother Joey Dunlop was a legend at the Isle of Man who was killed in a crash in Estonia in 2000.
The accident occured during qualifying for the 250cc class at the Mathers Cross section of the road course. According to a BBC report Robert Dunlop suffered massive chest injuries in the crash.
A second rider, Darren Burns sustained a broken leg and concussion when he hit Dunlop's bike. He was reported to be in stable condition in hospital.
