VRRA boasts four big events

From the Vintage Road Racing Association

Can you hear those old air-cooled engines firing up? Yes, it's another exciting season of action for Canada's Vintage Road Racing Association.

Those great machines of yesteryear will be lining up to do battle during four action-packed VRRA weekends in 2008. Two events will run at Shannonville Motorsport Park and Mosport International Raceway, while the Quebec GP in St-Croix and North Bay's Runway Romp round out the schedule.

The first event of the season is the celebrated Quinte TT run June 6-8 at Shannonville. The name commemorates those daredevils of old that raced through the streets and roads of the city of Trenton and eastern Ontario's Quinte Island region.

This summer's single race in La Belle Province is the Quebec GP at St. Croix, on the south shore just west of historic Quebec City July 12-13.

The height of the VRRA season arrives during the Aug. 15-17 weekend at the Vintage Festival held at Mosport, just an hour east of Toronto. Rare machines from throughout Canada, the US and abroad join local members on the famous Formula 1 and GP track to make it one of the year's biggest motorcycle celebrations.

The VRRA season wraps up with the famous North Bay Runway Romp on the weekend of Sept. 6-7. Racing takes place right on the airport grounds, harking back to the golden age of motorcycle racing when wartime airports became ready made tracks in Britain's postwar years.

Vintage Endurance racing is slated to take place at both the Quinte TT and the Mosport Vintage Festival.
