Jervis second in OMRRA opener

By John Hopkins

Victoria's Oliver Jervis placed a somewhat fortunate second in the 600 Superbike feature of the opening round of the Oregon Motorcycle Road Racing Association season at Portand International Raceway last Saturday.

Jervis was running fifth on his Zlock Kawasaki ZX-6R when three of the riders in front of him suffered crashes, all in turn four, likely due to a light rain that began to fall in the closing stages. None of the riders was hurt. As a result, Jervis picked up the runner-up finish behind Kane Lasky.

The 600 Supersport race was marred by a couple of red flags, the second of which ended the race early with Jervis classified fifth on the ZX-6R.

"The weekend was good for us and the 600 as we now have some direction as to what the bike needs to improve just that much more," Jervis said. "Our suspension guru, Dave Hodges, is working on some stuff for us to use at the next round. To say I’m excited to get this bike working well is an understatement."
